What church are you serving in at present?

The Table, CPP

Briefly describe your testimony of coming to Christ:

I contribute my grandmother with bringing me to faith – it was a simple thing. She knelt down on her knees every night beside her big 4 poster bed. One night she invited me to kneel beside her. I was 3 or 4. That night I met Jesus and I’ve loved Him ever since. From that day forward I have been journeying toward more intimacy with God. Prayer has been an essential and constant companion.

Briefly describe your understanding of God’s calling on your life:

God, through Jesus Christ, began a movement, so it is my calling – our calling – to join God in this movement. In my understanding of calling, I embrace a God-given authority to equip the people of God for service and for building up the body of Christ. I’ve been entrusted with God-given strengths and gifts to help shape the people of God for the work of the Kingdom. That work involves preaching, speaking the truth in love, and the building up the Church, and faithfully preparing others to do the same as we reach the world for Christ. And so I join my Free Methodist brothers and sisters in the call to equip all members of the Body and to use the gifts we have been given to heal, to comfort, to free and to share the beauty of the gospel .

How did you come to the Free Methodist Church?

As part of the discernment process on planting a church, our Core Team recognized our shared desire to belong to a community that would provide partnership, accountability, shared values, mission and vision and where we could develop life-giving relationships. We began to meet with several denominations to explore this hope for life together. When we set down with the superintendents of the Free Methodist Church in Southern California, it felt like coming home. As we shared stories and explored history, doctrine, mission and vision, we quickly recognized a shared commitment to join God’s work in the world by allowing God to be creative with each life. I am proud to be part of a family who recognizes God’s call to be bold and active in the equipping of the Saints, focused on planting, helping churches mature and working together to carry out the work of the Kingdom.
