What is an Elder?

Ordination to elder’s orders constitutes the acknowledgement of the annual conference that the person so elected has met all the biblical (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1) and ecclesiastical requirements to serve as an overseer in the Church. This includes evaluation on the candidates spiritual formation and maturity, their competence and training on Wesleyan theological distinctives, and the demonstration of effective ministry outcomes as a result of their leadership.

Transfer Elders

Ordained Ministers who have valid credentials from another denomination, who are in harmony with the polity and doctrine of the Free Methodist Church, and who desire to join in the fulfillment of the mission of the church, after review, may be granted Elder’s Orders within the FMC by transfer.
